Designing urban elements in coherence with the environment...
Our aim is to propose innovative shapes and concepts created with high performance materials and the best technologies in accordance with urban requirements and in line with an environmentally-friendly approach: our furniture is robust, sustainable and recyclable.
Corten steel, our expertise: a natural, ecological and long-lasting material.
Corten is self-weathering steel. By allowing the surface to corrode, the steel’s resistance to oxidation increases. The patina, particularly aesthetic and original, forms when the raw metal is exposed to the air. The effect varies depending on the extent of the condensation, evacuation and evaporation of the water. The material’s stable state, its rusty brown colour and lightly grained aspect, is obtained naturally over a maximum period of 18 to 36 months depending on the project site.
Three types of finish which highlight the aesthetic qualities of the material whilst guaranteeing its exceptional durability:
Pre-stabilised naturally oxidised corten steel::
In order to offer a natural finish with an aspect similar to that of corten which has weathered for around 9-12 months, CYRIA has developed a process which accelerates the oxidation process. The result is an orangey-brown steel with a lightly grained aspect. One of the advantages of accelerating the oxidation process in our workshops is the significant reduction in the release of rust residue which occurs as the protective layer is forming, as the extent and the speed of the oxidation process decreases the longer the steel is exposed.
Oxidised corten steel with preventive treatment to protect ground surfaces at risk:
To protect light coloured and/or porous ground surfaces Cyria offers a surface treatment which prevents the risk of discoloration and which can be renewed repeatedly until the material has stabilised. The corten steel then acquires a lightly grained leather brown colour.
Painted corten steel

Corten steel can be used with a coating. In this case, a protective layer of oxides forms, preventing the rust from spreading under the paint. Cyria painted corten steel takes twice as long to achieve the same degree of rust as carbon steel coated with the same paint system. In addition to preventing and guaranteeing against the risk of discolouring surrounding surfaces, the paint also has the advantage of increasing the lifespan of this material which is already naturally high. Thermo-lacquered corten steel with the “corten effects” finish produces a Siena leather colour similar to oxidised corten steel with treatment.
AISI 316 L stainless steel, optimal quality.
For our furniture we recommend AISI 316 L stainless steel as this quality offers an even higher resistance to corrosion and other attacks, compared to many other types of stainless steel. AISI 316 L stainless steel does not weather, is a long-lasting material which requires almost no maintenance and is completely recyclable.
CYRIA offers 2 finishes which are particularly suited to the urban environment:
The satin finish leaves a perfectly smooth surface which is particularly ideal for outdoor applications.
the polished mirror finish, whose rendering is highly reflective, is created entirely by craftsmen. In addition to its obvious aesthetic characteristics, this type of finish offers increased resistance to corrosion and is easier to clean.
Go natural with our intrinsically rot-proof, untreated wooden benches.
Our wood is carefully chosen to offer the highest level of comfort. It comes from sustainably managed forests which are exploited in such a way as to respect the plants and wildlife. The wood is harvested exclusively from mature trees and thinning operations which are necessary for the development of young saplings. Wood is a natural material which can present differences in colour. These differences add to the wood’s warmth and aesthetic quality and blend in with each other over time. At Cyria, we have chosen to highlight the specificities of this noble material by selecting naturally resistant species in order to be able to use them untreated. Exotic wood requires no treatment as it is naturally rot-proof and is weather and mould resistant. We pay particular attention to the finishes of our woodwork, all the elements are sawn, planed, sanded once then finely sanded again to ensure the smoothest of surfaces.
LED technology in line with our environmentally-friendly approach.
• The lifespan of our LEDs easily exceeds most other light sources.
• They are more resistant to high and low temperatures than discharge lights, which makes them even more suitable for outdoor use.
• Contrary to other energy sources, LEDs do not contain any toxic products, limit light pollution and do not require any maintenance.
